About this policy
Plasencia Cigars (“Plasencia”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates plasenciacigars.com (the “Site”) from 5100 NW 72nd Ave, Bay A1, Miami, FL 33166. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through the Site, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have.
This policy covers the Site only. It does not cover the websites of retailers or distributors we link to, our social media pages, or services run by third parties, which have their own policies.
We do not sell cigars online, and we do not sell your personal information. The Site is intended only for adults 21 years of age or older.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you use a feature, we collect what that feature needs:
- Contact form: your name, email address, the option you choose under “I am a”, the subject and message you write, and your confirmation that you are 21 or older.
- Plasencia Cigars Insider: your email address. The signup form is provided by Mailchimp, which also records the date, time and IP address of your signup.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our hosting provider records standard server log information: your IP address, approximate country, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page, the date and time of the request, and how long the page stayed open on your screen. We use it to keep the Site secure and working, and to count visits.
Location. When you search for a store, the city or ZIP code you type is sent to Google Maps to find its location. If you choose “Use my location”, your browser asks your permission first; your coordinates are used inside your browser to sort the store list and are never sent to us.
We do not collect payment card details, your date of birth, or any sensitive personal information, and we do not ask you to create an account.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Answer your message and route trade, retail and press inquiries to the right person.
- Send Insider emails about new releases, events and stories from our farms, only after you sign up. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Operate, maintain and secure the Site, diagnose problems, and prevent abuse such as spam.
- Comply with the law, including the age restrictions that apply to tobacco marketing, and protect our rights.
We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build profiles of you, and we do not make automated decisions that have legal or similar effects on you.
Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases: your consent (Insider emails, and “Use my location”); our legitimate interests in answering the messages we receive and keeping the Site secure; and compliance with our legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time; doing so does not affect processing that took place before.
Cookies
The Site sets one cookie of its own: pc_age, which remembers for 30 days that you confirmed you are 21 or older, so you are not asked on every visit. It is strictly necessary and holds no personal information.
We count visits from our own server logs, without cookies and without any third party. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics, which is why the Site shows no cookie banner. Google sets its own cookies when the maps on the Where to buy and Contact pages load, and Mailchimp sets its own on its signup confirmation page; their policies, linked above, govern those cookies.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block pc_age, the Site will ask you to confirm your age on each visit.
How long we keep it
- Contact form messages are not stored on the Site. They are delivered to our business mailbox and kept only as long as we need them to handle your request and maintain ordinary business records.
- Insider email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Server logs are kept for up to 90 days. After that we keep only visit totals that identify no one.
- The pc_age cookie expires in your browser after 30 days.
Your rights and choices
You can unsubscribe from Insider emails at any time using the link in any email.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to access, correct or delete it, to receive a copy of it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw your consent. Residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws have these rights under their state law; because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing to opt out of.
To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will verify your request using the email address you gave us and respond within the time required by applicable law. You may use an authorized agent, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Age restriction
The Site is intended only for adults 21 years of age or older and is not directed to anyone under 21. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21. If you believe a person under 21 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The Site is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to the information we receive is limited to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International visitors
Plasencia Cigars is based in the United States, and the Site and our service providers process information in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where the law requires it, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the Standard Contractual Clauses our service providers offer.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will notify you by email where we have your address.
