Our commitment

Plasencia Cigars is committed to making plasenciacigars.com usable by everyone, including people with disabilities and people who use assistive technology. We keep improving the Site and apply the relevant accessibility standards as we do.

Conformance status

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. The Site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA: most content conforms, and the parts that do not yet fully conform are listed under Known limitations below.

Measures we take

Accessibility is part of how the Site is designed and built:

  • Text and background colors are chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast, including gold on the dark sections.
  • Menus, forms, carousels, dialogs and the store locator work with a keyboard alone, and focus is always visible.
  • A “Skip to content” link, one main heading per page, ordered headings and landmark regions help screen reader users find their way.
  • Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Form fields have visible labels, and errors are announced to screen readers.
  • Nothing on the Site plays or advances by itself, and animations are turned off when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Pages adapt to any screen width and remain usable when text is zoomed to 200%.

Compatibility

The Site is designed to work with the current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge on desktop, Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android, and with common screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA and TalkBack. It relies on HTML, CSS, JavaScript and WAI-ARIA.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of the Site are not yet fully accessible:

  • The maps on the Where to buy and Contact pages are provided by Google Maps, a third-party component we do not fully control. The store list next to the map, and the written address on the Contact page, carry the same information as text.
  • The collection wordmarks are images. Each has a text alternative, but the text inside cannot be resized or restyled.
  • Product images are photographs of packaging; the full text printed on boxes and bands is not repeated in their text alternatives. Ask us and we will provide it.

We are working to address these limitations.

Age and health notices

The Site is for adults 21 and over. The age confirmation dialog appears before any other content and can be completed with a keyboard or a screen reader. How the age cookie works is described in our Privacy policy.

The Surgeon General warning appears as real text, not only as an image, in the age confirmation, in the footer of every page and in the mobile menu.

How we assess accessibility

We assess the Site ourselves, using automated accessibility testing and manual checks with a keyboard and a screen reader during development.
